Lisa Adriance, PhD
I am a skilled editor with a deep appreciation for language and an interest in the diverse ways people communicate.
Not only do words convey meaning, but the style, flow, and tone of a written document provide the reader with essential information. As an editor and a skilled communicator, I approach my work with a focus on writer intent and reader experience.
While written language is the focus of editorial work, the communication between editor and writer is essential to the success of any writing project. In my work as an editor, I place a high value on communication and building a collaborative working relationship with writers.
I am a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience working in mental health and social services. I have worked in non-profit, government, healthcare, and academic settings. As an editor, I bring this experience to my work and offer expertise in editing and writing material addressing psychological, public health, social, and academic topics.
I have a BA in English and Psychology from the University of Delaware, an MA in Educational Psychology from New York University, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. I completed the certificate in editing program at the University of Washington and participate in classes and trainings through professional organizations.
